The Fashion School is delighted to offer free sewing classes in London for children aged 9 – 14 who receive free school meals in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
In addition to these free classes, the school also run free taster sewing sessions for children and teenagers who are new to our weekly sewing classes.
If your child is interested in fashion and learning how to sew, it’s the perfect way to start. A young person can come along, try a class for free and see if it’s right for them. There is no commitment to book other sessions.
Free workshops for ages 9 - 14 who receive free school meals
During the school holidays, The Fashion School runs free Holiday and Food Workshops for children on free school meals in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
Children learn how to design, pattern cut and sew their own fashionable, practical garments. They can choose from a gorgeous range of sustainably sourced and dead stock designer fabrics. No previous sewing experience is required and a nutritious lunch is provided by a local supplier.
A massive thank you to Nicola and Niamh from Young K&C and Nicky from Westminster Council for supporting these free sewing classes which include fashion illustration as well as sewing workshops. These free classes run during the Easter, Summer, and Christmas holidays.

This is a wonderful initiative. Offering free sewing and fashion workshops to young people—especially those eligible for free school meals—opens up creative skills and confidence that can make a real difference long-term. I love that the programme combines practical garment-making, sustainability, and a welcoming taster format with no pressure to continue Sprunki
